The Thomlinson Library - the largest and most significant 18th century private library in the country - was once housed at St Nicholas Cathedral.
The Collection
While the books are now in the care of Newcastle City Library, the Thomlinson collection continues to inspire ideas for research in a number of areas - not least the interface between religion and science.
Partnership
St Nicholas Cathedral seeks to work in partnership with those undertaking research wherever possible, by offering encouragement and facilities and receiving the stimulus of new thinking.
