The Friends of St Nicholas

The Friends are a group of people from the Cathedral and the wider community who, by their prayers, work and financial support, help to maintain the fabric of the Cathedral.

Who Are The Members?

Some are members of the Church of England, some belong to other denominations, or to none.

Yet others are people who have moved away, and see the Friends as a way of maintaining their links with the city and its cathedral.

Membership

The Friends pay an annual subscription of £5 (more if they can afford it); churches and businesses pay a corporate subscription of £10.

Some also work in a practical way in the Cathedral to help maintain its beauty and its usefulness.

Further Information

The Friends' committee, chaired by the Dean, runs the business affairs and also organises outings and other social functions so that the Friends can get together and enjoy themselves.

The Annual Meeting of the Friends takes place in December on the Saturday nearest to St. Nicholas' day (6 December) at which time subscriptions are normally paid for the following calendar year.

Get In Touch

The Secretary of the Friends is Lesley Wright; please write to her at the Cathedral if you would like to become a Friend.

Details of Social Activities are available from the Social Secretaries, Joan Marrs and Ruth Lunn, both of whom can be reached via the Cathedral.
