Newcastle Cathedral is very proud of its musical tradition and of its very busy music department.
When Can I Hear The Music?
On most days you can find music in this beautiful building, be it an organ recital on a Monday lunchtime, or Evensong sung at 5.30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, or the sound of young children’s voices on a Saturday morning or of course the glories of Sunday’s choral services (10am and 6.00pm).
Concerts
There are other concerts from time to time given by one of the Cathedral’s own splendid choirs, the Northern Sinfonia or other visiting groups (even the Mediaeval Baebes!), making the Cathedral a very popular venue for concerts.
Organisation
The music department is headed up by the Cathedral Organist and Master of the Music, Scott Farrell who has been at the Cathedral since 2002.
